9th International Symposium on Acoustic Remote Sensing and Associated Techniques of the Atmosphere and Oceans

Vienna, Austria, 6 - 10 July 1998

The 9th International Symposium on Acoustic Remote Sensing and Associated Techniques of the Atmosphere and Oceans is organized by the International Society of Acoustic Remote Sensing (ISARS) and the Institute of Meteorology and Physics of the University for Bodenkultur. The ISARS '98 Symposium will include invited and contributed papers as well as a poster session and manufacturer's presentations. The aim of the symposium is to bring together scientists working in the field as well as manufacturers

Contributions are invited on the following topics:

  1. Propagation and scattering of sound in the
    atmosphere and oceans
  2. Instrument development and accuracy
  3. Oceanic applications
  4. Atmospheric applications

Workshop on applications

A workshop is planned as part of ISARS '98 to bring together experienced scientists, manufacturers and end-users. Therefore, manufacturers are invited to present their new developments. Participants are encouraged to present results from different fields of applications of remote sounding systems and to contribute their experience to the discussions.

Exhibition

Companies manufacturing equipment for acoustic remote sensing and associated techniques are invited to exhibit their products. Their active participation in the workshop on applications is most welcome.

Call for contributions

You are kindly invited to contribute to this symposium. There will be oral presentations (15-20 min. for contributed papers) and posters. The posters will be up during the whole conference and there will be brief oral introductions to each of the posters.

Preprints

At the beginning of the conference, extended abstracts will be available as a preprint volume. Authors will receive instructions for preparing their extended abstracts together with the notification about acceptance of their contribution.

A special issue with selected papers from ISARS '98 is planned for the journal Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics. Details will be given later.
